As pet owners, we've all asked ourselves the following question: If you could clone your pet, would You?
People reports that Tom announced this in a press release along with Colossal Biosciences, the company that cloned Lua (and of which Tom is also an investor). His statement stated that Lua was cloned using blood obtained from her before her death, resulting in his current pet Juni.
“I love my animals. They mean the world to me and my family,” Tom said in a statement. “A few years ago, I worked with Colossal and used their non-invasive cloning technology by simply taking blood from our family’s elderly dog before he passed away.”
Tom also added that the procedure “gave my family a second chance with a clone of our beloved dog” and stated that he is “excited about how Colossal and Viagen's combined technology can help both families lose their beloved pets while helping save endangered species.”
Let's be honest: if you were an investor in the company that cloned your dog, you'd probably say something similar. But the question remains: Would do you clone your pet? Let us know in the comments.
