New York Times today Strands interesting puzzle. It reminded me of one of my favorite TV shows of all time. Some answers are difficult to decipher, so if you need hints and answers, read on.

Your goal is to find hidden words that match the theme of the puzzle. If you get stuck, find any words you can. Every time you find three words of four or more letters, Strands will show one of the themed words. These are the words I used for the clues, but any words you find with four or more letters will work:

  • COUNT, FIRE, CREAM, SWAMPS, COOKIES, MANE, WALK, CRIME, WORK, RICE, REEF, POINT

These are answers that are related to the topic. The goal of the puzzle is to find them all, including spagram, a themed word that extends from one side of the puzzle to the other. Once you have them all (I originally thought there were always eight, but learned the number can vary), every letter on the board will be used. Here are the non-spam answers:

Here are some of the Strands topics I've found most challenging in recent weeks.

#1: Outdated slangJanuary 21. You probably didn't even use this lingo back when it was cool. The most difficult word: PHAT.

No. 2: Tar she blows! January 15. I think marine biologists could handle this. The most difficult word: BALEEN or RIGHT.

No. 3: Off the hookJanuary 9. Similar to the January 15 puzzle in that it helps you learn a lot about sea creatures. Sorry, Charlie. Hardest word: BIG EYE or SKIPJACK.
