DETROIT (AP) — Claire Thompson, Sophie Jacques and Izzy Daniel scored back-to-back third-period goals to rally the expansion Vancouver Goldeneyes to a 4-3 victory over the Boston Fleet on Saturday night during the Takeover Tour stop at Little Caesars Arena.
Jamie Lee Rattray scored for the first time this season to give top-seeded Boston (6-0-1-2) a 3-1 lead just 19 seconds into the third period.
Vancouver (3-1-1-5) shrugged it off and used power-play goals from Thompson at 4:21 and power-play goals from Jacques at 8:01 to tie the game. It was the second time the Golden Eyes scored with an extra skater in their last 14 attempts. Daniel gave the Goldeneyes the lead 3:22 later and goaltender Emerance Maschmeyer forced him up.
Tereza Vanišová had her fifth assist and Mikela Cava had Thompson's third. Daniel earned his first assist of the campaign on Jacques' goal, while Hannah Miller picked up her third. Miller added another assist for the winner, and Jenn Gardiner tallied her third.
Olivia Mobley used assists from Ella Huber and Rylind MacKinnon to score her third goal to give Boston a 1-0 lead just 4:22 into the game.
Miller, who scored 10 goals for Toronto last season, responded with her first GoldenEyes goal, scoring unassisted 23 seconds later to tie the game.
Less than three minutes later Suzanne Tapani's third goal gave Fleet a 2-1 lead. Sophie Shirley added her third assist.
The two teams shared 12 shots in a scoreless second period after Boston outscored Vancouver 16-4 in the first.
Aerin Frankel finished with 17 saves for the Fleet, while Maschmeyer stopped 24 saves for the GoldenEyes.
