The Consumer Electronics Show is never short on ambitious ideas, but Smartlet Perhaps one of the most unusual this year: a modular watch band that allows you to wear a traditional mechanical watch and a smartwatch on the same wrist at the same time. One on top of the other.
The Parisian startup announced the Smartlet at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, pitching it as a solution for people who like the look of an analog watch but also want the practicality of a regular watch. smart watch for notifications, fitness tracking and mobile payments. Instead of having to choose between the two, the Smartlet system allows you to mount an old-school watch on the front of your wrist, hiding a smartwatch or fitness tracker on the underside.
The Smartlet Band at CES 2026 will link your fitness tracker to an analog watch.
The stainless steel band starts at $418 and does not include smartwatches or mechanical watches. What you're actually buying is a strap system that's compatible with most major smartwatches and fitness trackers, including Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy Watch, Google Pixel Clock, Garmin models, Fitbit charging devices and Oops. In terms of analog watches, it supports watches with lug widths ranging from 18mm to 24mm, including high-end models from brands such as Omega, Tudor, TAG Heuer and Rolex.
The idea comes from founder David Ohayon, who says he's tired of choosing between his analogue and the Apple Watch every morning. Smartlet, in theory, offers the best of both worlds, allowing you to switch from fitness nerd to sophisticated executive with the flick of your wrist.
In practice, this raises several serious issues, the biggest of which is related to volume. Smartlet claims the system adds 9 to 12mm of height to the bottom of the wrist once a connected device is attached. For someone who already manages to scratch their watch without even trying, the idea of attaching a second device to the underside of your wrist, where it regularly comes into contact with tables, armrests and tabletops, seems like a walking nightmare.
The Smartlet Band is compatible with most major smartwatch brands and luxury watches such as Rolex and TAG Heuer.
There is also aesthetics. Smartlet is clearly aimed at what it calls the “modern gentleman”, with marketing language that draws heavily on luxury watch culture and phrases such as “from the boardroom to the weekend”. Translation: This is a watch for wealthy men who want to show off their investment without sacrificing tracking their results at the gym.
And while it may not be the most practical or cost-effective solution for most people, Smartlet is one of those highly niche, standout products that made us look twice at CES this year.
