Oh, hello, Prince Arthur. This is King Dutch. Long time no see. We thought today would be a good day for riding. Katamari. The shooter is sick with tuberculosis. Where the first one rolls, the second one follows. Roll, roll, roll.
In fact, this is the ideology underlying Red Dead Redemption 2 a mod that streamer Blurbs created late last year and has since showcased in a video that features a large number of horses and girlfriends rolling into balls of chaos.
Arthur Morgan runs around and objects nearby suddenly stick to him, forming a growing mass of limbs and cart wheels that spins and floats like a large glitchy mass. While the mod doesn't strictly adhere to the size rules of the Katamari series, which dictate that you start by rolling small things your size and can only collapse buildings or giant kaiju when you have enough girth, it looks like a lot of fun.
Great fun that will completely ruin your playthrough, but as a fan of those videos that someone has turned into GTA 4NPC car speed up to a million miles per hourthis is something I can get behind. So, I reached out to Blurbs via Discord to see if there were any plans to release this mod publicly in the future.
Unfortunately, it looks like I'll never get there. One of the server members was quick to respond that while I should certainly wait to hear back from the streamer himself, as far as they know, the mod going public is “highly unlikely,” citing the fact that Blurbs intends to design its mods in a way that ensures they work for him specifically as one of the reasons why this is the case. The Infomercial himself then responded, pointing to this answer and saying “essentially this.”
It makes sense. At the end of the day, creating mods in a form that you'll be happy to tinker with on your own hardware and bundling them into a package that's tight and polished enough that you'll be comfortable letting others try them are very different propositions. Especially when the creation is as chaotic and potentially capable of causing crashes or otherwise messing things up like this Katamari mod.
Fortunately, Once upon a time in Katamari there's a whole Wild West themed area, so I think I'll go back there and blow it up this video on repeat.
