Seven hundred cuties is a lot to spend on a monitor, at least in my opinion. And I sit in front of three monitors at my work, including an ultra-wide OLED display front and center. But this deal between Acer and B&H tempted me. Today you can get 39″ Ultra Wide OLED Large Monitor for $699.99.Full $500 discount off retail price.
The Acer Predator X39 monitor is essentially larger version of X34stretching the panel even higher and wider, but maintaining the 3440×1440 resolution. This may be a sticking point for some – monitors that get even larger tend to increase this resolution slightly, up to 5120 pixels wide. But if you prefer physically larger image/text, or want frame rates to remain manageable since you haven't lost four figures on the graphics card this year, it might make a lot more sense. At 240Hz and 0.01ms, you'll still need plenty of gaming power to get the most out of this monitor.
Other features on the spec list include a built-in KVM switch for controlling multiple machines, an 800R curve (which is impressive—no need for flat-screen players), AMD FreeSync Premium Pro support, and a 90W USB-C port. This makes this monitor a good addition to gaming laptops, something that even many OLED displays lack.
This is a new, unrefurbished monitor, and it sells for the same price as smaller, slower, less feature-rich models released just a couple of years ago. It's a good deal, that's what I'm saying. However, Black Friday sales are less than two weeks away, so it might make sense to wait if you're not quite ready to buy. You can also check Review of the best PCWorld monitors on the market.
