Mounting a huge multi-panel TV on the wall is no easy task, as you'll need mounts for the individual panels, wiring in the wall to connect the components together, one or more video controllers to feed the picture to the TVs, and maybe even a faux wall to hide all the cable clutter.
At CES this week (where it will also showcase new generation wireless television line, first introduced December 2022), Displace promises to significantly reduce the time and effort required to install a massive TV array with the 4K OLED Displace Wall, designed to install in just half an hour and without the need for any drills or facades to hide wiring.
Coming in two sizes – a 110-inch 4K display made up of four 55-inch displays, and a 130-inch version with a quartet of 65-inch panels – the Displace Wall comes with a custom frame that uses 'active loop' suction technology, meaning it can simply be attached to the wall.
Move
In addition to eliminating the need for additional mounting hardware, Displace Wall also does not require external video controllers: each panel includes the necessary video wall functionality, and one “host TV” in the array acts as the primary connection point for the other panels.
The Displace Wall uses a removable 10,000mAh/46.8V battery to power it, meaning there's no need for power cables. How long will the battery keep the video wall running? Good question; we reached out to Displace for more details.
Powered by Displace OS 2.0, a platform focused on “ambient computing” that turns each 1.26-inch-thick panel into a “smart, responsive surface,” the Display Wall can display one large video image or four separate video streams, according to Displace. You can also expand videos from one TV to others with a simple gesture.
On the technical side, Displace Wall is powered by an 8-core Intel N-300 processor with integrated graphics, 32GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, and the panels themselves are capable of supporting resolutions up to 40K at 30Hz. The Wall can operate completely wirelessly, but the main TV also has an HDMI port for connecting external HDMI-enabled video sources.
Before you get excited about the retractable Displace Wall, consider the price: $39,999 for the 110-inch version or a whopping $59,999 for the 130-inch model. At these prices, the Displace Wall is more likely to end up at trade shows and corporate lobbies than in living rooms. companies existing 55″ OLED retails for $5,999.
If you like Displace TV's unique wall-mounted and wireless technologies, the manufacturer will also demonstrate module that can be upgraded existing TVs with screen sizes ranging from 55 to 100 inches and weights up to 150 pounds. Displace TV has not announced pricing for this product.
