Saskatoon rockers shepherd dogs announced a new album. Stay away from the storm will be released on February 27 on the band's newly created Right On Records label, and the previously announced Canadian tour will follow.
To celebrate the announcement, the band shared a video for the opening track, “Nobody But You.” The album was recorded Thomas D'Arcy and produced by the band's frontman Ewan Curry.
“These new songs really set the tone for the next chapter of the band,” said bassist Ryan Gallen. “There’s something special about discovering an album as it’s being made, and with a full-length album you have the opportunity to stretch out, find a rhythm and see how it all comes together.”
This is the band's first album since Longtime drummer Sam Corbett has left the lineup. Instead of replacing him with a permanent member, the band was joined in the studio by a string of guest drummers: Trevor Falls, Adam Hindle (Dwayne Gretzky, Born Ruffians), Steve Keeley (Golden Feather), Jordan Murphy (The Walrus, Adam Bloodwin) and Dani Nash (July Talk).
Gullen said: “Working with a handful of very talented drummers who we really respect added new color and energy to the sessions, and recording all the live people in the room brought the songs to life in a way that felt immediate and exciting. We can't wait for people to hear it and bring these songs on tour to experience them together.”
