Hong Kong 2097, the official sequel to one of the most notoriously offensive games of all time, has been delayed after failing Steam certification and apparently being ghosted Valve.
Kanipro's Hong Kong 97 sequel, which was clearly intended to be “the worst game ever,” was announced back in October with a trailer paying homage to the original unlicensed floppy atrocity from '95, which, let me remind you, stars Bruce Lee's heroin-addicted relative named Chin and accuses him of killing “fucking ugly” (words of the game) Chinese communists in Hong Kong.
It's been two weeks since the resubmission and still no response from Steam, so we'll have to delay the release of Hong Kong 2097. The new release “date” is the first quarter of 2026. The game is completely finished, but we can't do anything without approval. I'm in gamedev limbo pic.twitter.com/MRCWPXdaDsDecember 4, 2025
Another admittedly funny one tweet from Kanipro or some comic genius running this account is outraged by Steam's decision: “Oh, for God's sake! Come on over to Steam, you guys are breaking my balls for no reason. There is no nudity (at least nothing visible), the game is playable from start to finish, LET ME RELEASE HONG KONG 2097!!!”
The nature of Hong Kong 2097's apparent ban on Steam is inherently stupid, if only because someone at Valve was almost certainly forced to look at a deeply stupid game that blatantly tests the limits of the platform's content rules, despite the fact that the same platform is known for publishing games whose names I can't mention here for fear of being flagged by HR. AnywayWhat I'm saying is that until we know exactly why Valve is refusing to distribute Hong Kong 2097, this sounds a lot like the same censorship that the internet is up in arms about. the whole horse situation.
