The Outer Worlds 2 will arrive in full today, October 29th. In anticipation of the gates to Arcadia finally opening to those who didn't want to pay extra for Early Access, Obsidian have made an attempt to fix some of the key issues and pesky bugs that have reared their heads until now. Good news, unless your roleplaying game was designed to involve you being swallowed up by the earth or having to try and smash an angry cabinet at some point in your space adventure.
Viewing entries hotfix 1.0.4.0I noticed a couple of minor problems that I encountered during my walkthrough reviewthere's Aza, the cult companion who regularly points out the need to chat when there hasn't been a fresh meeting, and the Golden Ridge Monastery, sometimes a little confusing despite the best efforts of the objective markers.
Some more critical bugs include a “persistent blackout” that can apparently cause the game to inadvertently announce “that's it, guys” when you return to a certain landing pad, an acid body dematerializer that prevents you from equipping a weapon if you saved it while using it, and a companion, Inez, who is sometimes difficult to find after her first encounter. Obsidian says they have also “improved the accuracy of information displayed during end-game slides.”
Beyond this, there are many more general bugs that can occur early in the game's life, such as certain actions causing the player to fall around the world, quests not being completed, placeholder text appearing, and some incorrect actions in collisions. Funnily enough, the studio adds that “the game will no longer crash if you interrupt certain NPC dialogue lines by interacting with or killing one of the participating speakers,” and that you'll no longer encounter the problem that would result in you being stuck in constant combat due to an enemy being stuck in a closet.
Finally, I reached out to Obsidian for clarification on the very first bug listed in the post. You see, it says that PS5 players are experiencing issues with premium version gear not being distributed properly, and there's a note at the bottom that reads as follows: “Unfortunately, the rewarded consumerism flaw is not fixed in this patch and will be addressed in a future patch.” Since I'm not 100% sure this is specific to the PS5, such as a hardware issue, I decided to double check if my encounter with this flaw on PC was due to some kind of bug rather than the gag I and others have since assumed.
If word gets around that it's just a mistake, I'll update this part and put on the Moon Man's helmet of shame.
