‘The Kitchen’ is closing: Reactions as food talk show is nixed

This is almost the end of The Kitchen.

Food Network announced Monday that her long-running weekend cooking talk show “The Kitchen” is coming to an end. The final episode of the series, hosted by network favorites Sunny Anderson, Kathie Lee Biegel, Jeff Mauro, Jeffrey Zakarian and regular guest Alex Guarnaschelli, will air on December 13th.

“It's the end of an era,” Biegel said in her Instagram story sharing news. “Thank you so much to all of our fans. 'The Kitchen' has been the greatest professional honor of my life and I will be forever grateful.” Biegel has co-hosted the show since it premiered in 2014.

Mauro, who has also been on the show since the beginning, himself supported her opinion. Instagram post.

“I always knew we had something special—rare, a unicorn, an anomaly,” Mauro wrote in a lengthy caption thanking fans and colleagues. “I got to spend a dozen years with my best friends—cooking, laughing, and eating life-changing snacks from the world's greatest chefs and chefs.”

The Emmy-nominated cooking talk show Daytime is currently in its 40th season, where hosts and guests share recipes, discuss food trends and offer other nutrition tips. In addition to famous chefs and culinary experts, “The Kitchen” has opened its doors to various actors, musicians and celebrities.

“For over a decade, Sunny, Katie, Jeff, Jeffrey and most recently Alex have captivated audiences with their individual and distinct passions for food and sense of humor, which together make The Kitchen a delightful way to spend an hour.” Warner Bros. Discovery Food director Betsy Ayala said in a statement.

“Everyone knows that all good parties end in the Kitchen, where conversation, laughter and food flow; The best parties probably end a little sooner than some guests would like, but we have twelve years of memories to make and we wanted to celebrate the hard work of this team this past festive season.”

Food Network titan Bobby Flay congratulated the show's team on the “landmark run” in the comments of a Food Network Instagram post sharing the news.

“Thanks to The Kitchen, its amazing chefs and hosts for throwing a daytime party. [Food Network] over the last decade,” Fly wrote.

Other Food Network stars also chimed in with their comments in response to the announcement.

“I loved this show because it reminded me why I fell in love with cooking in the first place,” wrote Artie Sequeira, winner of season six of “The Next Food Network Star,” “many voices and hands working together in the kitchen with equal doses of love and sass!!!!”

“[C]Congratulations on an incredible show—one of my favorites to watch and be on,” “Chopped” judge Mark Murphy wrote. “You are all legends.”

Fellow “Chopped” judge Tiffany Faison also congratulated the show's team on “a run worthy only of this team.”
