The Indie Games You Need to See

Developer Day 2025 Highlights

For some it's Thanksgiving, for others it's Halloween. But for me once every two years Developers Day means we're right into the holiday season. Besides, what better gift than being able to preview some interesting and potentially awesome upcoming indie games? Here are just a few of the games that caught my attention.

Awaysis (Developer: 17-BIT)

Awaysis is a co-op dungeon/brawl game for 1-4 players with a deep combat system, tons of loot, and small levels perfect for a few spare minutes. What sets Awaysis apart is its incredible physics engine and the fact that literally everything obeys the laws of physics.

Moomintroll: Winter Warmth (Developer: Hyper Games)

You may not know this, but Moomintroll is Tove Jansson's favorite fairy tale character. Moomintroll is an adventure game with a very specific, immersive aesthetic that takes Moomintroll on a journey through the cold of winter.

Rockbeasts (Developer: Lichtund)

Part economic/management simulator, part musical rhythm game, RockBeasts is also full of humor and clever parodies of the music business. Looks like it will appeal to fans of multiple genres.

Bestro (Developer: Timberline Studio)

While we're on the subject of beasts, let's take a look at Bestro. It's a cozy construction simulator, but the focus is on growing crops and developing a thriving community restaurant.

Soundgrass (Developer: Soundgrass Studio)

Soundgrass is a hard-to-describe trippy game that creates its world and gameplay out of sounds. In terms of genre, it can be described as a puzzle adventure in which the environment generates sound and music to help you solve puzzles and move forward.

Into the Fire (Developer: Starward Industries)

Into the Fire is an action/evacuation game in which your goal is to rescue survivors of a volcanic eruption that has engulfed a nearby town. You'll have to do some base work and crafting while you expand your arsenal of vital tools.

Dogpile (Developer: Studio Folly)

Looking at the game's artwork, you might be wondering what the hell Dogpile is. Turns out it's a deck-building roguelike with a quirky art style and a fun atmosphere. The best part is that there are a LOT of adorable dogs here. There is currently a free demo available on Steam.

Demon Tides (Developer: Fabraz)

Demon Tides is an action-adventure and platformer where you explore the nooks and crannies of a colorful kingdom and its many islands.

Thanks for keeping it locked on COGconnected.
