Amazon's “buy 2, get 1 free” sale is pretty simple. All you have to do is add three items to your cart and the cheapest of the three will be discounted from the final price at checkout. Since there are currently four illustrated interactive editions available, you will need to choose which three to add to your cart to receive the discount. Whatever you choose, you'll get an extra $21 off when you buy three at a time. Since the price of each of these books has already been reduced, the full collection of four books, if you buy them all at once, will cost $89.90.
As you may have noticed, so far only the first four books in the series have received an interactive illustrated treatment. The first three books feature illustrations and paper crafts from MinaLima, while Goblet of Fire is by Carl James Mountford (illustrator) and Jess Tice Gilbert (designer). This discrepancy between artists is due to MinaLima announces that he is not going to continue with the project. The latest edition, Goblet of Fire, marks the first new book in this line of special editions since 2023. released just two months ago, in October 2025.. The change in artists means there are still plans to complete the rest of the series in the same vein in the coming years.
What is the “interactive” element of these illustrated publications?
In fact, I have all the MinaLima editions and have had the opportunity to read them myself. The interactive element here refers to the paper crafts hidden within the pages. Essentially, these are illustrations that rotate, open, or can be played with in some way. It's actually a lot of fun as you progress through the story. The only issue I have is that it's not really designed for too heavy use. The paper elements are obviously quite fragile and this is not a book that needs to be read over and over again. However, as a collector's item and for occasional reading, they're pretty cool. Is now the best time to buy these books?
This is currently the best deal on these books in the world. Of course, it's possible that prices could drop further before Christmas, but it's unlikely that this free Buy 2 Get 1 promotion will still be running by then as it usually only lasts for about a week. This is the same deal we saw during Black Friday sales this year, so it's as good as it gets unless Amazon offers a surprise discount.
Amazon's 3 for 2 sale offers unique savings on the entire collection. Even if Amazon continues to cut discounts on select games, you'll likely end up saving the same amount as if you bought now while the promotion lasts. This type of deal is especially good for buying complete collections at once, and these Harry Potter books are the best deal of the entire sale for just that.
