Bethesda Game Studios head Todd Howard in an interview GameInformer announced progress in Elder Scrolls VI progressing well.
“It’s going very well,” Howard said. “Most of the studio works at VI, but I will say this: we always cross paths. So, we're very used to duplicating development. And we have a long time of pre-preparing things to make us feel good. And this is a process. We'd all like it to go a little faster – or a lot faster – but it's a process we want to get right.”
Studio director Angela Browder added in the same interview: “It’s great to be back in this Elder Scrolls Universe. As the Internet likes to tell us, a lot of time has passed. And the industry and the hardware and everything has made such huge leaps since the last time we did something like this, I'm excited about what's to come because the capabilities, the hardware, the rendering, it's all just… the possibilities are crazy!
“Honestly, sometimes I see what's going on and I'm like, 'Angela from Skyrim never imagined she'd see this now,' and it's a cool thing to be a part of. And I hope that when the day comes that our fans play it, they – especially those who have been lifelong partners with our brands – will truly be able to see how far this has come. You can see it right now: you are downloading the original Oblivionand you load up the Oblivion remaster and you see how far this has come. So for me, Elder Scrolls VI it's an endless set of possibilities that is really very exciting for a developer, but really very exciting for someone who really likes to think about how far things have come in our industry. It'll be cool. This is great! [laughs]”
Studio design director Emil Pagliarulo said: “I can tell it’s happening! It's funny because the time pressure that players put on us is something we don't experience ourselves. And I know this can be frustrating for players who really want to play the game. Games take a long time and games are constantly being promoted; GTA they were pushed again and it was the smartest thing they could do because a game the size of these games they don't just need a lot of time to make but a lot of time to spit and polish and fix bugs.
“So what do the fans really want? Do they want the game to come out earlier than it should and not live up to their expectations? Or they want the turkey that's been in the oven long enough to taste good when it finally comes out of the oven, you know? I think that's what people will want. So, we're going to take our time and take as long as necessary to make sure it's great.”
