- The Coros Pace 4 smartwatch has just been released.
- It adds an AMOLED display and improves heart rate measurement accuracy.
- The price has increased slightly compared to the Coros Pace 3.
If you like a sleek, lightweight running watch, the Coros Pace series has long offered strong contenders. There was a lot to like about it tempo 3but there is stiff competition from the likes of Garmin Precursor 165 And Fitbit Versa 3. Will Koros be able to keep up? We're about to find out, as the company just announced an update to its popular Pace line.
Pace 4 choirs comes with a number of upgrades but still shares the lightweight frame of its predecessor, maintaining a 32g weight when paired with a nylon strap. It should be light enough that it won't weigh you down as you walk along the trail.
One of the most significant updates to the Pace 4 is the addition of a 1.2-inch AMOLED touch display, bringing this aspect closer to Pace Pro Choirs look. When we reviewed the Pace 3, we criticized it for its mineral glass LCD screen, which was a little difficult to see in bright sunlight. With the addition of AMOLED technology, you can enjoy a brighter and clearer display in any environment.
Koros says this has also improved the accuracy of the watch's heart rate measurements, giving you more accurate readings that should better reflect the actual health of your heart. This is due to a redesigned heart rate sensor, which Koros says can reduce wild spikes and dips in your measurements.
Even longer battery life
In addition, Pace 4 is equipped with voice control thanks to the built-in microphone. This means you can now record workout logs, record voice tags, jot down notes, and more—all without having to touch the watch display.
Battery life has always been a strong point of the Pace 3, and the Pace 4 improves on it again. In 41 hours, you'll get more power from the Pace 4 when connected to a five-satellite network than the Pace 3 would get when connected to two satellites (25 hours). From a GPS training perspective, this is impressive.
However, not everything has changed. The design remains the same as the Pace 3, with features like the Virtual Pacer and race forecasts carried over from the previous model. We appreciated the huge number of metrics present in the Pace 3, so it's great to see most of those metrics included in the new Pace 4.
In terms of price, the Coros Pace 4 will set you back $249 (£229) and is available now. It's a slight increase over the Pace 3's $229/£219 price, but as affordability was one of the key points of the previous model, we're glad to see the price hasn't increased too much.
