The Canadiens are organizing a mentoring trip for their players this year

This year, the Canadiens decided to do something different: offer their players mentors' trip.

At least that's it La Presse wrote about Zachary Bolducwho decided to invite one of his former coaches, Sebastian Leme.

Bolduc credits LeMay with truly helping him become the player he is today and would like to give back.

The idea is clear. Each player can invite someone important in their career to accompany them on the team's trip this week to Pittsburgh and New York.

I think it could be a former coach, trainer, loved one… or someone who really matters in player development. Basically someone who was here long before the NHL.

This is a good idea.

It's a way for the players to say thank you.

They will have the opportunity to ruin someone who was instrumental in their career, and that's a really good idea on the part of the Montreal organization. We often see the mother or father ride (I think that will happen later in the season), but the mentor's ride… that's something special too.

But for the Canadiens, the message is also simple: player development doesn't just happen on the ice. This happens when you have the right people around… and it's also a reminder of how important it is to be in a good environment to move forward.

The Hubs took the time to do something deeply human. And sometimes it seems that it is precisely this gesture that is decisive on the ice.

At least I have a feeling the players will be hungry against the Penguins (Thursday) and Rangers (Saturday) in front of their coaches.

If it helps the team win… so much the better!

After a while

– Hello, Slough.

– Mathieu Choiniere will remain in Los Angeles.

– I confess.

– Come on!

– Wow.
