Gaming services provider Testronic is closing another studio. In a statement to Game Developer, the company confirmed that it was winding down Testronic's operations in Bucharest and laying off an unknown number of employees.
The closure is apparently due to the company's need to “optimise, focus and consolidate” Testronic's presence in Warsaw and London. The Bucharest office will work with existing clients to complete their projects, although some projects will “transition” to teams in other locations, the statement said.
“It will be provided to the highest quality standards, which we consistently deliver to our partners from all our sites around the world,” Testronic concluded.
A Testronic spokesperson told Game Developer that the company is implementing measures to “support impacted employees. These include job search webinars, one-on-one resume reviews from local HR representatives, and personalized written recommendations for “all employees.”
Some former Testronic employees accused the company of “sabotage”
While Testronic is one of many companies laying off workers in the gaming industry in 2025, it is one of the few that has faced intense backlash from former employees. In JulyEmployees of Secret 6, the Madrid subsidiary of Testronic which it acquired in 2022, said the British company was deliberately slowing down customer service and denying them any resources to secure new contracts. They told Game Developer that it appears their new parent company is stifling incoming work in order to attract customers to them. new subsidiary in Manila— which is reportedly much cheaper than its Spanish office.
Then in September it announced the closure of its Belgrade studio and plans to lay off 4.8 percent of all employees.
This all follows another major cut in the value of Testronic, which sold off. Hinterberg Dungeons publisher Curve Studios, as well as its own development studios, handed over to Nazara Technologies in early May. Curve and Testronic were subsidiaries of the Catalis Group, although this name has now been retired and Testronic remains the company at the top of the organizational structure.
This is a year of dramatic change for the external development resource provider. Unfortunately, this will likely be a traumatic change for many workers who are currently unemployed.
