Terence Crawford spoke about World Boxing Council (WBC) after the organization stripped him of his undisputed super middleweight title due to his failure to pay penalties for his last two fights.

Undefeated American boxer deserves title after victory Canelo Alvarez by unanimous decision in September. The fight was sanctioned by all four major sanctioning bodies, including the World Boxing Association (WBA), the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and the World Boxing Organization (WBO), qualifying the fight as an undisputed title fight.

But on Wednesday, the WBC stripped Crawford of the belt. The sanctioning body said it has revised the fee to 0.6% from the standard 3%. It was also claimed that Crawford allegedly earned $50 million for the fight.

The WBC said Crawford also failed to pay his previous fight fee for his fight against Israil Madrimov in August 2024.

“The WBC has sent several messages to champion Crawford, his manager and his legal counsel. “It is unfortunate that the WBC has received no acknowledgment of receipt or any response to any of these messages,” the statement said.

“The WBC had no choice but to act given that champion Crawford was given ample notice and multiple opportunities to investigate and resolve the situation.”

But in a fiery, profanity-laced tirade posted on Instagram, Crawford hit back at accusations of how much he made from the Alvarez fight and even accused WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman of favoritism.

“I have something to say. “I have something to say,” he began. “I see Mauricio has something to say about me not paying him $300,000 plus $100,000 in sanction fees, right? …like, who the hell do you think I am? Boy, you better slap yourself. I don't pay your ass. What are you talking about?

“You can have this damn belt! Either way, it’s a trophy,” he continued in a long tirade.
