Tensions continue to rise in Minneapolis amid a massive ICE crackdown on illegal immigrants, and on Wednesday a violent protester was killed after she tried to run down law enforcement officers with her car. Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security Trisha McLaughlin wrote on social media that the agent fired defensive shots because he feared for “the lives of his law enforcement colleagues and the safety of the community.”
Today, ICE officers in Minneapolis were conducting targeted operations when rioters began blocking ICE officers, and one of these violent rioters used her vehicle as a weapon in an attempt to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them – an act of domestic terrorism…

Her tweet continues:
The ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of his law enforcement colleagues, and the safety of the public, fired defensively.
He used his training and saved his life and the lives of his fellow soldiers. The alleged perpetrator was wounded and died. The injured ICE officers are expected to make a full recovery.
This is the moment when he supposedly fell(warning about profanity🙂

The city's official account complained about the legal actions of federal agencies:
We are aware of a shooting involving a federal agent at 34th and Portland. We are working to confirm more information, but we know that the presence of federal immigration agents is causing chaos in our city and making our community less safe.

Embattled (read: disgraced) Gov. Tim Walz tried lower the temperature:
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said Wednesday that state officials are working to gather information about a shooting involving Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in Minneapolis.
“We will share information when we know more. In the meantime, I ask people to remain calm,” Walz said.

McLaughlin, however, responded to Minnesota officials in a tweet, saying the shooting incident is a clear result of the aggressive rhetoric Democrats regularly use at ICE for simply doing their job:
This is a direct result of the constant attacks and demonization of our officers by sanctuary politicians who fuel and encourage rampant attacks on our law enforcement agencies. These men and women who simply obey the law face a 1,300% increase in attacks against them and an 8,000% increase in death threats.
