The Canadian team for the upcoming Olympic Games was announced today.
Nick Suzuki is the only Habs player who will represent Canada. However, Francois Gagnon had Mike Matheson in his lineup. And some would like to see Noah Dobson in the lineup.
Personally, I'd take him over Drew Doughty, but it's true that the Kings right-hander has a lot more Olympic and international experience. The guys from So much hockey fed your opinion about the composition.
Marc Antoine Gaudin and Martin Leclerc are not surprised by the appointment of Nick Suzuki and believe that he will play a big role in the team. Leclerc wouldn't be surprised if he started as the 13th striker, but it won't be long before he features in the lineup.
Journalists also talked about Noah Dobson. Godin believes it would take three injuries to make the roster.
Because although the lineup was announced today, in case of injuries it may change.
According to Radio-Canada, he would have ranked ahead of Jacob Chykrun and Matthew Schaefer over the Habs right-hander. And yet, among all Canadiens defensemen in the NHL, Dobson is the sixth-leading scorer.
It is clear that points are not the only criterion, but…
Note that Evan Bouchard, one of the best shooting guards in the league, was ignored and not even named as a possible reserve in case of injury.
This just shows how important defensive play is for Olympic, especially in the later stages of the tournament.

“However, he has confidence in his future teammates.
Nathan MacKinnon on Scott Wedgwood and Mackenzie Blackwood not being included in Team Canada:
“Of course I want my goalkeepers to be there, but they aren’t and I’m very happy to go play with [Darcy Kuemper] And [Logan] Thompson and [Jordan Binnington]”
