Age is just a number, and few people embody that feeling as perfectly as Tylen Biggs. She's only 12 years old, and she's already hard to pin down by just one title: a budding fashion icon, an actress and, perhaps most importantly, a young reporter, are all vying for her, but no label is doing her justice. With millions of followers across multiple platforms, the South Florida native's voice reaches far beyond her age group, and her resume of interviewees resembles a who's who of Hollywood, including Rihanna, Kris Jenner and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
Yet one conversation stands out above the rest. “I knew it was a huge opportunity, but it didn't fully hit me until I was in the chair across from her,” Biggs tells POPSUGAR about it. 2024 Interview with Selena Gomez. “I remember thinking, wait… this is real. I'm actually here and doing this. It was one of those moments where time slows down a little bit and you just feel grateful that your dream is happening right in front of you.”
Loud moments still cause nerves, but Biggs has learned to welcome them. “I always tell myself that nerves mean that I'm grateful and that I care, so I try to put that energy to good use. to me! I put on some music, give myself a little pep talk, and sometimes watch Miraculous or Alvin and the Chipmunks because it puts me in the happy zone. And honestly, talking to my family before moving on always centers me. Once I feel that love, I'll be ready!
While Biggs' reporting earned her significant credibility, she also became a celebrity in her own right. She's a familiar face on red carpets, regularly sitting in the front row New York Fashion Weekand are often dressed from head to toe in design everything. (The white Stella McCartney jacket and green Bottega Veneta bag she wore in 2023 are forever etched in my memory.)
In other words, when it comes to defining Alpha General style, her point carries serious weight. “I think Gen Alpha is officially done with anything that feels like it needs to fit into one aesthetic,” she says. “We've given up on the idea that your style has to stay in one line. One day it's bows and sequins, the next day it's sweatpants and big jackets… and that's all the fun! We care more about expressing how we feel that day than about following the rules. So if the trend tells us to ‘pick a side,’ we’re like… no, we’re good.”
“Gen Alpha is officially done with anything that seems necessary to fit into one aesthetic. We've abandoned the idea that your style has to stay in one stripe.”
She also makes clear what adults often misunderstand about Generation Alpha, especially when it comes to gifts. “I think adults sometimes underestimate the uniqueness of Generation Alpha,” she says. “We actually know what we like… and what we don’t. We love fun, but we also love quality (we actually love doing research). We want things that look like us, are thoughtful and fit our vibe, not just what's trending in five minutes. When it comes to style, we're not trying to dress older, we're trying to dress [like] us!! We like things that tell a story, feel unique and make us feel confident.”
With that in mind, there's no better person to turn to for General Alpha-approved gift ideas. Whether you're doing last-minute holiday shopping, planning ahead for an upcoming birthday, or just wondering what the next generation really wants, consider this list a shortcut to getting it right. And yes, even at 30 years old I would happily buy this too.
