This monthly series compares the overlapping sales of Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch 1 in Japan.
Nintendo Switch 2 was released in Japan in June 2025, and Nintendo Switch was released in March 2017. As such, the normal holiday periods and Japanese Golden Week are not the same for the two consoles.

October 2025 is the fifth month during which Nintendo Switch 2 will be available in Japan. Over the past month, Switch 2 sales exceeded Switch 1 sales by 0.15 million units when releases are combined. Switch 2 now leads Switch 1 by 1.28 million units.
The fifth month for Switch 2 is October 2025, and for Switch 1 it is July 2017. Switch 2 sold 2.57 million units and Switch 1 sold 1.29 million units during the same period.
Nintendo Switch 1 has sold 36.20 million units to date. Switch 2 currently trails Switch 1 sales by 33.63 million units.
