Ice-T explains Fin's absence in season 27 “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” After Mariska Hargitay, Ice-T was the longest-serving member of the Dick Wolf series, joining the series in its second season in 2000. However, he only appeared in four of the eight episodes this year.
“It's just business. They brought Kelly back. In the end, they couldn't keep both of us both times, budget-wise,” Ice-T said during a recent interview with TMZreferring to Kelly Giddish, who played Detective Amanda Rollins from seasons 13 to 24, when she was written out. She returned full time in season 27what Hargitay fought for.
“They said, 'Ice, we'll make you come and go this year.' Everyone wanted Kelly back. We have new police officers. I'm not leaving the show. I'm more concerned about participating in season 28. This year they said: “Ice, we will work with you a little less.” Everything was great for me. I understand. I said, “Are you getting rid of me?” They said: “No way. We can’t imagine Law & Order without you,” he continued. “I've been on this show for 27 years. I'm not going to say anything bad about this show. They've taken care of me for so long. I'm trying to get into Season 28.”
He added that the free time allowed him to do “other things,” such as working on new music.
“Don't worry about me. I'm kind of glad the fans are upset. What if I disappeared and no one cared?” he added. “I’ll be sprayed all season long.”
At the end of season 26, Juliana Martinez and Octavio Pisano left the show. Aimee Donna Kelly became a series regular as Captain Curry and Noma Dumezweni joined as series regulars. Returning cast members also included Peter Scanavino and Kevin Kane.
Wolf is executive produced by David Graziano, Julie Martin, Hargitay, Norberto Barba, Kenneth Brown and Peter Jankowski. Michel Fazekas joined the series as showrunner for season 27.
