A suspect accused of raiding the office of the acting U.S. attorney in New Jersey has been arrested after a multi-day manhunt.
“No one can get away with threatening or intimidating our great US Attorneys or destroying their offices,” US Attorney General Pam Bondi wrote on X on Saturday, announcing the arrest.
According to officials, the suspect tried to break into Alina Habba's office on Wednesday while wielding a baseball bat.
He was reportedly refused, at which point he returned without the bat and began vandalizing federal property in the office waiting area before fleeing. The FBI bulletin warned that the suspect “should be considered dangerous.”
Bondi did not name a suspect in her post. Earlier this week, the FBI released the suspect's name along with a $25,000 (£19,000) reward for information leading to his capture.
Hubba, who was Trump's personal lawyer before he appointed her as the state's top federal prosecutor, also posted on X, writing: “We got him.”
She also thanked the FBI and U.S. Marshals for the arrest, adding, “Now justice will come to him.”
The suspect will be charged with possession of a dangerous weapon on a federal property and robbery of federal property, according to an FBI wanted poster.
Investigators have not released any potential motive for the attack.
Hubba has served as New Jersey's top federal prosecutor since March. Trump initially nominated her for the role, then withdrew her and kept her in the position on an acting basis.
In August, a federal judge ruled that Hubba illegally held the position without U.S. Senate confirmation and should be replaced. Her case is currently being considered by the Court of Appeal.
Since taking office, Hubba has frequently clashed with Democrats.
During her time in office, she filed assault charges against a Democratic congressman and launched investigations into the Democratic governor and state attorney general.
