The Supreme Court has announced it will hear arguments about President Donald Trump's executive order ending birthright citizenship for children of illegal aliens born in the United States.
In January, Trump issued an executive order requiring end “granting citizenship by birthright to children of illegal migrants.”
The Supreme Court said that “they will hear the Justice Department's appeal of a lower court decision that blocked Trump's executive order.” in accordance with That Guardian:
The justices announced Friday they will hear the Justice Department's appeal of a lower court ruling that blocked Trump's executive order directing U.S. government agencies not to recognize the citizenship of children born in the U.S. if neither parent is a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
A lower court ruled that Trump's policy violated the 14th Amendment and the federal law codifying birthright citizenship rights in a class action lawsuit by parents and children whose citizenship is threatened by the directive.
John Binder of Breitbart News reported In July, Judge Joseph LaPlante of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Hampshire, an appointee of former President George W. Bush, “granted a class-wide preliminary injunction to illegal aliens suing the Trump administration.”
The claim was reported be “associated with the Open Society Foundations of George and Alex Soros.”
Obama appointee Judge Leo Sorokin of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts also published ruling “that a previous nationwide injunction blocking Trump's order can remain in place.”
Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) reported in 2019, according to “two new analyses” from the CIS, “there are 39,000 births per year to foreign students, guest workers and others on long-term temporary visas.” This is in addition to the 33,000 “births annually to tourists” and “nearly 300,000 births annually to illegal immigrants.”
Breitbart News reported that approximately 400,00 “anchor babies” will be born to illegal immigrants, tourists and foreign visa workers in 2024.
***Update***
According to PBS, “the case will be heard in the spring,” and the Supreme Court will issue a “final decision” by early summer 2026.”
