Suda51 says found-footage horror Michigan: Report From Hell has been “something that I’ve been wanting to go back to for a while”

Goichi “Suda51” Suda would like to bring back the found footage of the survival horror game Michigan: Report from Hell, either as a sequel or a remake.

The original, released in Japan in 2004 under the title “Michigan”, was not released in the US, although a dubbed version was released in Europe the following year with “Report from Hell” added to the PAL title.

In an interview with VGKThe court was asked whether the age of social media had ever given the producer pause to reconsider bringing Michigan to new audiences, to which he replied: “Hopefully sooner rather than later.”

“As far as Michigan goes, it's something I would definitely like to revisit or bring back in some form at some point,” said Suda, who was reportedly inspired by Stephen King's The Fog.

“And so if possible, I hope that I can talk to Spike Chunsoft and somehow make this a reality, hopefully sooner rather than later. But yeah, it’s something I’ve been wanting to get back to for a long time.”

“Hotel Barcelona”, a side-scrolling slasher parody by Suda51 and Hidetaka “Sweri” Suehiro, was delayed from 2024 to September 2025 so developer White Owls could “continue to refine and improve it.” The game currently has a mixed user rating on Steam.
