After what seemed like an eternity, the first part Stranger Things' fifth and final season arrived on Netflix last night (November 26). However, not everyone was able to watch it right away, as the streaming giant crashed for some users due to high demand.
The episodes stopped at 8 pm ET, and outages began almost immediately, according to Independent. About 14,000 bugs were reported in the US alone, and another 200 in India.
“Some members briefly experienced streaming issues on their TV devices, but service was restored for all accounts within five minutes,” Netflix said in a statement. [via Reuters].
Stranger Things Episode cancellations causing Netflix to crash seem to be a theme – this also happened when the final two episodes of Season 4 were released in 2022.
The first four episodes of season five were released yesterday. The next three will be released on December 25, and the last two episodes will receive theatrical release December 31st.
The final season of the show has been a long time coming, and filming will end in December 2024. Speaking to Exclaim! for our Spring 2025 cover, Joe Keery said that the postStranger Thingshe “simply looked forward, was grateful for the past and looked forward to the future.”
