Netflix's new milestone has an asterisk
Netflix's latest season Stranger Things is here and—surprise, surprise—it's a hit for the streamer. The company announced on Tuesday that Volume. 1 of Stranger Things Season 5 historically, it is the “biggest premiere week ever” for an English-language show, garnering 59.6 million views in its debut week.
Stranger Things Season 5 entered the top ten in all 93 countries tracked and reached number one in 90 of them. according to Netflix.
“The number of fans who have already seen the first volume is staggering – the response has been greater than we could ever have dreamed,” he said. Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer in a statement. “The show is ten years old, and seeing the fan base not only endure but continue to grow has been incredibly rewarding for us, the cast, and the thousands of artists who helped bring this story to life. We really can't thank everyone enough and we're so excited to share volume two—there's so much more to come!”
“Continuation” included three more episodes. Stranger Things on Christmas Day and the series/season finale to be released on Netflix – and in some cinemas – on New Year's Eve.
