Steve Martin and Alison Brown appeared on Evening show to showcase their instrumental track “Let's Get Out of Here.” Martin and Brown performed the rousing banjo song with the help of several other live musicians, including two string players.
“Let's Get Out of Here” is the final track by Martin and Brown. recent LP, Safe, smart and smartwhich fell earlier this month. The album marks the musicians' first release together and features appearances from Jackson Browne, Vince Gill, The Indigo Girls, Tim O'Brien, Jason Mraz and Della Mae. It was recorded live at Compass Sound Studio in Nashville.
“There are many styles you can work with the banjo, but Alison and I both lean towards its more melodic, melancholic aspect,” Martin explained in a statement about the album. “We got together and played music for a few days and ended up making a record that brought together all our banjo stories.”
“We didn't start out saying, 'Let's make an album,'” Brown added. “We were just having a good time writing songs, and at some point we realized that we had written enough to put them all together and worship. The whole process was filled with joy, lightness and fun, and now hopefully everyone who listens will share in that joy.”
Martin recorded the album while filming his hit television series. Only murders in the building. Fifth season of the show the premiere took place September 9. Hulu recently announced that the series will head overseas to London to film its sixth season. Martin's colleague Selena Gomez celebrated the news with an Instagram post featuring a photo of her with Martin and Martin Shorts. “We are eternally grateful that we can bring any joy to any of you,” she wrote. “My deepest thanks from Steve, Marty and myself.”
