Star Wars Outlaws is a game key card with a download size of approximately 20GB. At launch, Ubisoft explained that storing game data on the Switch 2 card would negatively impact performance, so the development team chose the Game-Key Card format.
In terms of performance, Outlaws is one of the most impressive third-party games on the Switch 2. It runs at 1440p at 30fps in docked mode and 1080p at 30fps in handheld mode. It's certainly a graphics downgrade compared to PS5, Xbox, and PC, but Outlaws makes excellent use of DLSS, VRR, and ray tracing to deliver solid graphics and consistent performance with minimal drops. Considering that Star Wars Outlaws runs horribly on the Steam Deck (it's listed as “unsupported”), it's great that Massive Entertainment has found a way to make the Switch 2 experience an enjoyable portable experience.
Outlaws is set during the height of the reign of the Galactic Empire. Outlaws puts you in the shoes of Kay Vess, an opportunistic lawbreaker on a mission to pay off the debts she owes to the Star Wars underworld. The third-person action-adventure game takes place on and between five planets in the galaxy. The four planets have an open world design that encourages exploration. Outlaws is a versatile game that combines gunplay with stealth and melee combat. You can customize your character and your ship, the Pathfinder, which you control as you travel through the galaxy. And yes, Star Wars Outlaws has space combat too.
