Rob Reiner's death has resonated among his fans and the many actors he worked with on his cast list. legendary films.
Reiner, 78, and his wife Michelle Singer Reiner were found dead Dec. 14 at their home in Los Angeles, police said. Their son Nick was arrested on suspicion of their murder.

“Generation X grew up with Rob” – Wheaton wrote in a blog on December 15 on his website.
“When we were little, we watched him on All in the Family, and when we grew up, he made films about our lives as we lived them: films about growing up, falling in love and breaking up, about how we see the goodness that exists within everyone if only they are open to it. He told us stories about the strength of the human spirit and made us laugh. Oh, how he made us laugh.”
Wheaton said he didn't interact with Reiner often, but his influence was profound.
“I only really knew Rob Reiner for one summer, in 1985, when we filmed Stand By Me. We've only met a few times in the last 40 years, and other than those rare encounters, we've only spoken a couple of times. Although I haven't spoken to him in years, I will miss him forever.” Eagle-eyed fans will notice that the line “I'll miss him forever” is what the adult version of Wheaton's character wrote in his story as Stand By Me came to an end.
Wheaton also wrote that he intended to reunite with Reiner to celebrate the film's 40th anniversary.
“I was hoping we'd see each other next year at the Stand By Me 40th Anniversary event so I could see him and properly thank him for everything he's given me – in my career, of course (that only exists because of Rob), but in my life too,” he wrote.

King, who wrote “The Body,” the story that inspired “Stand By Me,” mourned the death of Reiner, who also directed “Misery,” based on King's book of the same name.
