Stalker 2 will have a new story and weapons
Stalker 2 Heart of Chernobyl will be expanding with a major free update coming on December 16th, bringing fresh story content and new weapons to the open world shooter from GSC Game World. The update, called Stories Untold, continues to develop the dark atmosphere of the game, while simultaneously opening up new corners of the Chernobyl anomalous zone.
According to data published on the website PlayStation Blogthe new storyline begins with an emergency transmission that directs players to the western edge of the Zone. This uncharted territory introduces seven new locations, six new characters, and several hours of additional gameplay. GSC Game World encourages players to focus on the Red Forest region. Here careful observation and sound judgment will determine the course of events. Notable locations in the area include the eerie Tale Pioneer Camp and the long-abandoned Old Mine, both of which offer storylines and environmental storytelling.
The update also expands the arsenal of Stalker 2. In addition to the game's existing weapon lineup of over 30 weapons, players will have access to the GP37V2 rifle. Designed for tactical players, the rifle prioritizes precision over brute firepower. It does not support full automatic fire, but can be used in burst or single shot modes. The weapon is equipped with a silencer and a low-power sight, which ensures careful aiming and calculated combat.
In addition to the story and combat additions, Stories Untold introduces a new central zone in the Burnt Forest. This space allows players to meet NPCs and store equipment safely. Some existing locations will also become more lively, as other Stalkers will return to the Zone.
Earlier this year, GSC Game World revealed the difficult development of Stalker 2 due to war and unexpected setbacks, making this update another significant step forward for the project.
