Brothers! Stop talking and pick up your GameCube controllers. It's time to start playing Eternal darkness: Sanity's Requiem at an unhealthy rate, while simultaneously funding lawyers to defend the legal rights of LGBTQ+ people in the US.
Today marks the start of Games Done Queer, a new streaming event that will run through the weekend from speed running Games Done Quick organization. This is a fundraiser for Lambda Foundation for Law and Educationwhose goal is “to achieve full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender people and all those living with HIV through litigation, education and public policy.”
The event will run from today, October 31st until Monday, November 3rd, and will see crafty streamers creatively speeding up games for all ages – Diddy Kong Racing, Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, Necrodancer Rift, DeltaruneKiosk and Halo: Combat Evolvedand these are just a few of them. Full schedule available Here.
I admit, I don’t watch speedruns often, but I’m fascinated by how the players strange machines and build on each other's strategies – especially when it comes to horror games, which can punish you more harshly for rushing. I've never played Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem, but judging by scattered internet chats, it's a tough candidate for a speedrun. If you are familiar with the game, This is a breakdown of a speedrunner back in 2011 may be of interest, how can this GameFAQs post in which someone tries to hack the game's locked stamina system.
There is also a film by Steve Messner. old speedrun feature with “tools” from 2016.in which Super Mario 64 is taken apart like a broken pocket watch and reassembled into some sort of warp drive. Anyway, good luck to all the Games Done Queer speedrunners this weekend.
