Explore Solar Systems in SpaceEngine
SpaceEngine released version 0.991, known as the Universe Creation Update, marking one of the most significant advances in simulation in recent years. The update is now available to all users and contains a wide range of improvements aimed at creating a more natural and immersive space experience.
According to Alexander Long, CEO of Cosmographic Software, the new system has been a long-term goal for the studio. He explains that the team had been developing the revised version for several years and had been considering it long before Cosmographic came along. Long notes that the team is excited to finally deliver the improvements the community has been waiting for, and confirms that work on the next version is already underway. The team plans to include features in version 0.992 that were not included in this update.
Version 0.991 contains many improvements. The update improves underwater rendering, creating clearer, more realistic visuals. It also improves planet generation, creating a more diverse selection of worlds with a stronger sense of natural formation. The team is redesigning the globular clusters to give them a richer, more accurate appearance. One of the most significant changes is the complete overhaul of procedurally generated objects, giving users a universe that feels completely new from the moment they begin their journey.
SpaceEngine developer Dr Megan Tannock emphasizes the importance of these changes. She explains that the update represents a significant step toward improving the accuracy of the simulations, especially in how planets form and behave. The results, she says, create a universe that appears more coherent and based on scientific principles.
