Snoop Dogg headlines NFL Christmas Day halftime show during Vikings-Lions game

You've heard of Elf on the Shelf, but have you heard of Snoop on the Porch? Yes, for those wondering, it's a real thing, and it features plush rapper Snoop Dogg dressed as an elf. From creating your own Christmas doll to creating your own version of holiday stories, a hip-hop legend becomes a hip-hop legend. Christmas a legend and that legacy has continued NFL Thursday's halftime show.

Titled “Snoop's Holiday Halftime Party,” the 54-year-old took the stage at US Bank Stadium during halftime of the team's Christmas Day game Minnesota Vikings And Detroit Lions.

Martha Stewart, Snoop Dogg's longtime friend, presented the rapper with a Christmas story in Snoop's style. The performance began with chants of “Minnesota knows how to have fun.”

Snoop Dogg, dressed in an all-red suit, performed some of his biggest hits and welcomed special guests representing a variety of genres. There were background singers, dancers, nutcracker dancers, a sleigh ride and a giant Snoop on the Porch decoration.

He started with the hip-hop classic “The Next Episode” and then switched to a rendition of “My Favorite Things” to add some holiday music to the mix, a theme the show would continue to follow.

After the holiday song, he returned to his discography with “Nuthin' But A 'G' Thang.”

The singers of the hit Netflix K-Pop movie 'Demon Hunters' EJAE, Audrey Noona and Rei Ami performed their version of 'The 12 Days of Christmas'. The rings in this song “will, will be gold.”

In his final two original songs of the show, the West Coast rapper got the crowd excited with “Drop it Like It's Hot” and “Who Am I (What's My Name).”

Country star Laney Wilson was introduced and performed “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” on a lighted sleigh while Snoop danced nearby to her rendition.

Italian singer Andrea Bocelli and his son Matteo Bocelli closed the show with “White Christmas” and were joined by the rest of the performers at the end of the song.

“NFL, Netflix and your Uncle Snoop for Christmas? We give music, love and good mood to the whole world. That's the kind of holiday magic Santa can't fit in a bag.” – Snoop Dogg said ahead of the performance.

Before the game, award-winning artist Kelly Clarkson opened the game with her hit “Underneath the Tree.”

This was the second year that Netflix aired an NFL game on Christmas Day. Last year, BeyoncĂ© performed the halftime show during the Ravens-Texans game in Houston. The performance, called “BeyoncĂ© Bowl,” received four Emmy Award nominations.

The Lions are currently 8-6 and in third place in the NFC North, while the division rival Vikings are 6-8 and in last place in the NFC North. Minnesota was eliminated from the playoffs, but Detroit still has a chance to succeed.

Christmas Day games stream on Netflix and air on CBS affiliates in the cities of competing teams.
