Silicon Power US75 SSD review
In the lab, I have the Silicon Power US75, an NVMe Gen4 SSD that delivers extreme performance for volume builds without any special frills. It sits in the middle of Silicon Power's range and is one of the cheapest 7GB/s class Gen4 drives available. It's designed for creators and gamers who need fast and affordable PCIe Gen4 storage.
The 1TB US75 (as tested) is rated at 7,000 MB/s sequential read and 6,000 MB/s sequential write, making it suitable for handling large media files, quickly accessing games, or other memory-intensive tasks.
The US75 is a single-sided module that uses the Maxio MAP1602 controller to provide decent performance.
While it's currently hard to find any capacity (depending on your location), Silicon Power offers 500GB, 1TB, 2TB, or 4TB versions. The capacity is 300 TB for 500 GB, 600 TB for 1 TB, 1200 TB for 2 TB and 2400 TB for 4 TB drive. This is quite normal endurance for this riding class, and if you need more, look at Silicon Power Xpower XS70which has a maximum capacity of 3000 TB for the 4 TB model.
The US75 comes with a 5-year warranty, which is typical for mid-range drives, but better than most budget offerings.
In CrystalDiskMark, the US75 showed sequential read speeds of 7,356 MB/s and 6,233 MB/s write, while the real-world profile (which more closely simulates everyday file work) showed 4,412 MB/s read and 5,806 MB/s write.
Using the Blackmagic speed test, I got a read speed of 5847 MB/s and a write speed of 5626 MB/s. In Iometer, the drive showed 690K read IOPS and 982K write IOPS – excellent results that are on par with more expensive Gen4 drives.
Even with extended use, the US75 remained fairly cool despite the lack of a heatsink, but installing one is still a good idea for popular gaming builds and a must for PS5 upgrades. You can get US75 at option with radiator (and it's also PS5 compatible) but while it's readily available in the US, it's harder to find in the UK and rarely seen in Australia.
Overall, the Silicon Power US75 delivers superior Gen4 speeds at a price that few other drives can match.
