Become a mushroom warrior in Shroomwood.
Indie developer Sporelite Games has announced that a playable demo of Shroomwood, a 2D top-down roguelike, will be available on Steam starting November 14th. The game follows Shroomy, a brave little mushroom warrior, as he journeys into the ever-changing depths of the enchanted Mushroom Forest.
Each journey through Shroomwood promises a new experience, and the procedurally generated environments change with each playthrough. Players will fight in fast-paced battles, wield and upgrade a wide range of weapons, and explore colorful biomes infested with slugs, zombie fungi, and other hidden threats. Between runs, adventurers can head to Shroomsted Center, a quiet clearing where NPCs offer upgrades, secrets, and plot connections that deepen the world.
The demo gives a clear idea of what's to come, featuring one playable character, at least one level theme, and over 20 different rooms to explore. Players can experiment with over 20 unique weapons, over 50 modifiers, and several boss battles designed to test their reflexes. Full community integration also allows players to join the official Discord, share feedback, and participate in development as the game develops.
For Sporelite Games, the demo is more than a preview—it's an open invitation to players to influence the game's evolution. Fans of roguelikes will find familiar elements of challenge and replayability, while Shroomwood's combination of melee and ranged combat brings a refreshing twist to the genre.
Sporelite Games plans regular updates beyond the demo, adding new weapons, enemies, levels, and playable characters, leading up to the full release expected in late 2026. The Shroomwood demo will be released on November 14th on PC via Steam.
