OTTAWA — Ottawa Senators coach Travis Green says captain Brady Tkachuk will miss a “significant” amount of time with an upper-body injury.
Tkachuk suffered the injury in Ottawa's 4-1 loss to Nashville on Monday night when he was checked early in the first period by Predators defenseman Roman Josi and walked awkwardly into the boards.
Tkachuk remained in the game before leaving for the final half of the third period.
On Tuesday, Green updated his captain's status and estimated Tkachuk would be sidelined for four weeks but said the injury would undergo further evaluation.
The coach said the 26-year-old American striker could not rule out surgery.
Tkachuk had 29 goals and 26 assists in 72 regular-season games for the Senators last season before adding seven points (four goals, three assists) in six playoff games.
