The young American defenseman's shot deflected off Mackenzie Weegar and ended up behind the goal line with less than three minutes left in the third period as the Sens trailed 3-2.

It was the third time in the game that Travis Green's team tied the game after trailing.

It finally got the better of the Flames thanks to a shootout, with Drake Batherson and Tim Stützle on target and Linus Ullmark closing the door.

Egor Sharangovich gave the Flames the lead on the power play, but the Senators soon responded thanks to Lars Eller. The former Canadian saved a short-handed return from Shane Pinto to score his second goal of the season.

Both teams continued to trade goals with Matt Coronato (CGY), Artem Zub (OTT), Nazem Kadri (CGY) and finally Sanderson (OTT) scoring during this encounter.

Despite the loss, Flames goaltender Devin Cooley performed well in front of his cage, making 35 saves on 38 shots. Ullmark stopped 27 goals.

The Senators will now head to Montreal to face the Canadiens on Saturday night. The match will be broadcast on TVA Sports from 19:00.
