Enter the dystopian world of Screamer
Milestone has confirmed the return of one of its most iconic series. Screamerknown in German-speaking regions as Bleifuss, will release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on March 26, 2026. The announcement took place during The Game Awards 2025, where the studio also unveiled a new story trailer highlighting the tone and scope of the game.
Screamer takes inspiration from classic JRPGs and places players in the middle of an underground street racing tournament run by five competing teams. Each team consists of a leader and two riders who have their own reasons for joining the competition. Their personal stories, rivalries and ulterior motives shape the campaign. Progression is achieved by progressing through interconnected storylines through each character.
The game takes place in a dystopian world filled with vibrant anime graphics and a futuristic style. Over thirty minutes of animated cutscenes convey a narrative created by Polygon Pictures, a respected Japanese studio with a long history of high-quality animation. Acclaimed voice actors Troy Baker and Alex Le portray the two central characters and add drama to the moments.
The newly released trailer sets the tone for what's to come, offering a first look at the atmosphere. The game combines arcade racing with multi-level combat mechanics and introduces several new ideas. Dual joystick control ensures precise driving and fast response. The Echo system directly links story to gameplay by asking players to manage two resources called synchronization and entropy. Players are required to activate offensive and defensive abilities while racing.
Screamer will go on sale on March 26, 2026 and is available for pre-order now. A Collector's Edition with physical and digital items will also be available in limited quantities.
