Scott Hoying Eliminated on Wicked Night

One couple changed forever during “Dancing with the StarsEvil night.

The October 21 episode featured director Jon M. Chu as a guest judge and couples danced to hits from “Wicked” – some taking on Elphaba and some taking on Glinda.

This week's results have been combined with the results from last week's dedication evening. Carrie Ann Inaba received a little flak last week for criticizing some of the couples, but this week she delivered her first top ten of the season. The score came on quick walks from Whitney Leavitt and Mark Ballas. The rest of the judges, with the exception of Derek Hough, who gave it a 9, agreed with Inaba. At the end of the night, Jordan Chiles and Ezra Souza also received three tens and one nine (Hough retains his ten) for their stunning rumba.

After Andy Richter and Emma Slater's jazz performance, Hough remarked that it was the last week, “so we'll see”, and ultimately gave him a 6. However, the other judges were more impressed, with the rest giving him a 7.

Last week, Inaba told Danielle Fishel and Pasha Pashkov that their the dances started to look the same. This week she applauded Fishel's courage and said it was her breakthrough dance. Bruno Tonioli said it was “the hardest song to stage” and Hough praised the complexity of the number, calling it “magnificent”. Four nines gave them a huge lead on the leaderboard.

But it was Elaine Hendricks and Alan Bersten's contemporary program, Defying Gravity, that left everyone (including Bersten) in tears and on their feet. “I’m 54 years old, I’m injured, and I just did it,” she said after the dance through tears. She received four nines for the powerful exercise.

After all the dancing and results over the past two weeks, Richter remained at the bottom of the leaderboard while Leavitt returned to the top. Once the votes were counted (the show received 100 million votes in the last two weeks), Scott Hoying was sent home.
