Face a new danger in Scared by Squares
Scared By Squares has introduced a new game mode called Escape the Grid, inviting players into a disturbing world with a new challenge. This mode turns gameplay into a tense, randomized journey, where every decision weighs and every door can lead to danger.
Escape the Grid places players in a 25-room space organized in a moving grid. Each room presents a unique challenge, ranging from environmental hazards to precision movement-based challenges. One room inside the grid is damaged, blocking progress until it is properly cleared. To overcome this obstacle, players gain access to a new item called the Shape Stabilizer, a tool designed specifically to neutralize corruption and restore balance to the network.
As players delve deeper into the mode, they must remain vigilant. Deadly cubes patrol certain areas, anomalies can be collected to improve performance, and there's a constant feeling of instability throughout the playthrough. The goal is simple in concept, but difficult in execution. Clear the corrupted space, survive the dangers and escape before the track collapses completely.
The developers have also outlined an ambitious plan for future updates. Planned additions include dynamic room shuffling, timed challenges, expanded anomaly systems that reward higher scores, new room types, multiplayer support, and additional content aimed at increasing replayability.
Scared By Squares itself is an atmospheric VR exploration game that creates a challenging atmosphere through minimalism. Players traverse liminal environments filled with cubes that appear both mechanical and alive. Survival depends on observation, careful movement and the ability to recognize anomalies before the last chance of freedom disappears.
Scared By Squares is available on Meta Quest headsets and Steam. You can also enjoy the game in standard mode on the Steam version.
