Dark Horse published all 41 volumes of Berserk, written and illustrated by Miura, in 14 corresponding hardcover books. Several other Deluxe Editions are selling for similarly low prices, including Volume and Volume 4. Volume 5, meanwhile, costs $39, but is the only edition included in the set. Each elegantly designed hardcover volume is wrapped in durable leatherette and contains three separate volumes, reprinted in an oversized format. When purchased new, they are shrink-wrapped. Each book has about 700 pages, so they can take up a significant amount of shelf space once you start accumulating them.
Miura's latest contributions to Berserk have been collected in Deluxe Edition Vol. 14the only Deluxe release not to include three separate volumes. Instead, the newest deluxe edition combines volumes 40 and 41 with the official Berserk Guide, which helps contextualize your reading experience with reference information and expanded knowledge. Berserk Volume 42, first new book after Miura's death will be discounted to $10 on Amazon in 2021 (down from $15). The 192-page paperback book has a fold-out, reversible cover and continues the storyline of Fantasia, the fifth storyline in the manga. Volume 42 was directed by Miura's best friend, Koji Mori, and was written and illustrated by Miura's assistants.
Another famous Berserk book worth checking out is The Flame Dragon Knight, a novel set in the world of Berserk. Based on a story idea by Kentaro Miura and written by Makoto Fukami, Berserk: Flame Dragon Knight is a 192-page side story that explores the origin of one of Berserk's main antagonists. If you prefer smaller books, all 42 volumes collected in Deluxe Editions remain in print in a traditional paperback. Each individual volume contains approximately 200 pages and has a suggested retail price of $15, although you can often save a few dollars on them on Amazon. Over the years, Berserk has received numerous television and film adaptations. 1997 anime series remains Miura's favorite interpretation of the story. This released on Blu-ray last year and sells for $48 (was $60).
The Golden Age Arc of Berserk, a trilogy of films that debuted in 2012-2013, also came to Blu-ray last year. Golden Age Arc: Memorial Edition turns three films into a 13-episode TV-style arc. Amazon's current $30 discount matches the Prime Big Deal Days price.
Finally, there is the 2016 adaptation, which has its fans, but is generally considered a missed opportunity due to poor animation. However, the 2016 series picks up where the Golden Age arc left off, and has some great characters and storylines throughout its 24-episode arc.
