Saudi Arabia's quest to transform its healthcare system has led to a bold technological leap. The Ministry of Health (MOH), in partnership with Lean Business Services and Google Cloud, has introduced an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered health coach on the national Sehaty app. This is a move that puts AI directly into the hands of citizens and helps with everyday health concerns.
The collaboration, announced during the World Health Expo in Riyadh, marks another milestone in Saudi Arabia's ambitious plans. Vision 2030which aims to create a more connected, proactive and people-centred care model. Bringing together the advanced capabilities of Google Cloud generative AI (GenAI), drawing on Lean Business Services' expertise in secure healthcare integration, the project aims to reimagine how people interact with the national healthcare system.
Sehaty's feature provides live voice and video interaction, allowing users to naturally speak with an AI health coach who can provide instant, personalized health recommendations.
“This is a new step in our journey towards a preventive, comprehensive and person-centred model of health care,” said Health Minister Fahad bin Abdulrahman Al Jalajel. “As we move from treatment to prevention, we give doctors better tools, patients more knowledge, and everyone with personalized health recommendations.”
The trainer is built on Google Cloud's Gemini models, which provide multimodal processing, real-time speech, text and video interpretation. This allows Sehati's AI to do much more than just answer basic questions. It can summarize clinical notes, assist doctors with documentation, and make recommendations based on each user's verified medical history.
“This partnership is a testament to the Kingdom's leadership in technology adoption,” she said. “This proves that AI can transform clinical workflows, drive proactive patient care, and set a new global standard for public health innovation,” said Tara Brady, President EMEA at Google Cloud.
Lean Business Services ensures smooth and secure integration of the system into the Saudi digital ecosystem. The company connected Google Cloud AI capabilities to the Sehaty and Raqeem platforms, which enables advanced data processing while maintaining the protection of patient information.
“We are innovative solutions that significantly enhance the capabilities of healthcare providers,” said Mohanned Al Rashid, CEO of Lean Business Services. “Our role ensures compliant and secure integration to ensure every citizen receives world-class care while patient data remains under the control and ownership of the Department of Health.”
Data privacy remains the cornerstone of the initiative. All information generated and stored in Sehaty is stored within Saudi Arabia, under the direct control of the Ministry of Health and meets the requirements of a Class C data license. Google Cloud infrastructure has been designed to meet the country's strict data sovereignty standards, ensuring that sensitive medical records remain private, secure and locally managed. A focus on trust and transparency is essential as AI becomes a deeper part of healthcare. Saudi Arabian citizens can use the Sehaty app knowing that their data will not leave the country.
As Saudi Arabia continues to diversify its economy and modernize government services as part of Vision 2030, healthcare remains one of the most notable success stories. Artificial Intelligence Coach Sehati aims to build on this momentum by combining innovation, inclusivity and intelligence into one platform designed to improve the quality of life for millions of people. Saudi Arabia wants to not only transform the way health care is delivered, but also demonstrate how AI can empower a healthier society where prevention is proactive, data is protected, and technology serves its citizens.
