It's hard for me to realize this Arknights: Endfield. This is one of those games that has two versions. Arknights: Endfield is one such anime gacha game filled with anthro-next-door women you can ride around and fight as in flashy, lackluster-feeling combat. Arknights: Endfield is also one of those games, a factory simulator where you build complex systems to produce something. It's a combination I can't figure out, but registration is open for its next beta test, so maybe I can figure it out.
Signing up for a test is quite simple, you just need to go to the website official websitefill out a short questionnaire, and at some point you may be informed that you are participating. There are no guarantees, but if you're interested in playing it, there's no real risk involved. This is actually the game's second beta test, and according to the press release, it will be slightly different from the first.
For starters, the story appears to have been completely reworked, from new cutscenes and dialogue to choices you can make that “result in unique outcomes.” There's also a new region called Wuling, “a region that combines oriental aesthetics with futuristic elements, combining the traditional with the modern.”
The test includes nine new operators to try out, and combat has also been updated a bit with some new skills, tweaked abilities, and updated bosses. Of course, there's that whole factory system to try out, and the controls and visuals throughout the game have apparently been “improved.”
Again, it seems a little strange that Arknights: Endfield is essentially two games in one. I get that the original has some strategy roots, so it feels like a factory sim might appeal to the same crowd, but there's a certain awkwardness to it. I wonder how the game will take into account the sense of self due to these stark differences. There's no release date for the game yet, so I guess we'll have to wait to find out.
