Satechi released its first Thunderbolt 5 docking station V CES 2026introducing the CubeDock as a compact, cube-shaped desktop hub.
The device is equipped with an NVMe SSD and expands the company's line of accessories.
CubeDock uses IntelThunderbolt 5 supports 80 Gbps bidirectional bandwidth as a baseline and up to 120 Gbps unidirectional bandwidth using Bandwidth Boost for multi-display applications.
Thunderbolt 5 technology in a small form factor
This dock appears to be designed to complement modern Apple Silicon workflows, although they are not limited to Mac users.
company claims it supports dual 6K displays at 60Hz on Apple Silicon M3, M4 and M5 systems without relying on third-party software.
On Windows devices, the dock supports higher resolution settings, including up to 3x resolution. 8K displaysdepending on the host hardware.
The CubeDock includes three Thunderbolt 5 downstream ports, as well as USB-C and USB-A connections at 10 Gbps.
Card readers support UHS-II SD and microSD formats, while 2.5Gb Ethernet and a 3.5mm audio jack add networking and audio capabilities.
The integrated NVMe chassis accommodates 2230, 2242, 2260, and 2280 SSDs with capacities up to 8 TB and 6000 MB/s transfer speeds.
However, the dock does not support traditional hard drives and offers limited native video output, raising questions about the flexibility of various settings.
The Satechi CubeDock features an integrated 180W power supply, providing up to 140W for host charging and an additional 30W for peripherals.
This meets the high power USB-C charging requirements for the latest Apple MacBook Pro models.
It includes active cooling to maintain performance during long workloads.
The dock works natively with macOS and integrates with existing Nvidia and display platforms, reducing dependence on software such as DisplayLink.
Along with the CubeDock, Satechi introduced a 1-meter braided Thunderbolt 5 Pro cable designed for high-speed data transfer and high-power power delivery.
This cable meets Apple specifications, delivering 240W of power, support for multiple high-resolution displays, and backwards compatibility with Thunderbolt and USB-C.
Both products are currently available for purchase at Satechi websitewith the CubeDock pre-order price of $399.99 and the cable price of $39.99.
The device is scheduled to ship in the first quarter of 2026, although CES attendees will be able to view demos and there is a promotional 20% discount running through January 31st.
