Saskatoon wins bid to host 100th Brier in 2027

Saskatoon has won the bid to host the Brier in 2027, when the men's curling championship celebrates its 100th anniversary.

The centenary celebration will take place at the SaskTel Center from February 26 to March 7, 2027. Saskatoon will host the Brier for the seventh time. Tickets will go on sale in spring 2026.

Curling Canada announced Saskatoon's successful bid Monday at a local BBQ & Bar in Montana, title sponsor of the Brier. The city also hosted the 75th Brier in 2004, and last hosted the Brier in 2012.

“We can’t wait to welcome fans and athletes from every corner of the country to experience our legendary hospitality, our energetic crowd and our shared love of the wild game,” Saskatoon Mayor Cynthia Block said in a press release issued by Curling Canada.

The winner of the 2027 Brier will play for Canada at the 2027 World Men's Curling Championship.

last national men's bonspiel in the province occurred in Regina in 2024. Regina and Saskatoon have hosted the event 12 times, while Saskatchewan teams have won the title seven times.

“The format of the Montana's Brier has changed over the years, but it continues to celebrate every province and territory and connects athletes and fans from coast to coast,” Curling Canada CEO Nolan Thiessen said in a press release.

The 2026 Brier will be sent to St. John's, NL.
