Saskatoon aerial dancers prepare for their performances at Persephone Theatre – Saskatoon

FLY Studios YXE Hosts Annual Storytelling Showcase performance January 10 at the Persephone Theatre.

This year they decided to stage a play by Rudyard Kipling. The Jungle Book According to teachers, students asked to see an animal-themed show. With more than 100 performers and 23 staff members, dancers worked hard to showcase their skills during dress rehearsals this weekend.

Aerial dance is a combination of artistry and athleticism where dancers use apparatus suspended in the air to perform acrobatic feats. This year the performance uses silks, ropes and hoops.

After about three and a half months of hard work, the dancers are looking forward to performing on the big stage, saying the loud applause, fun costumes and energy of the theater make all the hard work worth it.

Meanwhile, the studio says it's a great opportunity for students to experience performing on a professional stage and says it's inspiring some to pursue a career in the circus arts.

The performance includes a narration The Jungle Book between performances to create a cohesive story.

FLY Studios YXE performances The Jungle Book will take place on January 10 and 10 at 11:00 and 16:00 at the Persephone Theater. Tickets will be available online on the studio website or at FLY Studios YXE.
