The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed Jeremy O'Day, the team's general manager and vice-president of football operations, and head coach Corey Mays to two-year contract extensions that keep them with the team until 2028.
“The last two seasons have been incredibly special for Rider Nation and our ballclub, and a lot of that has to do with the winning culture that Corey and Jeremy have created,” team president and CEO Craig Reynolds said in a statement.
“I know we are just at the beginning of what they have created and I look forward to seeing what they can achieve not only heading into the Western final at home this season, but for many years to come.”
O'Day served briefly as the Roughriders' interim general manager in 2015 before being named to the role full-time in 2019. Since then, he has compiled a 55-46-1 record and helped Saskatchewan reach the playoffs four times, including a berth this year.
The 51-year-old Buffalo, New York native has worked in the team's football operations department since retiring from the game after the 2010 season. O'Day played 12 years on the offensive line for the Roughriders, earning three All-CFL selections and six All-West Division selections. He has won three Gray Cups – two as a player and one in 2013 as Saskatchewan's assistant general manager.
Mace is in his second year as Saskatchewan's head coach, posting a 21-12-1 regular season record since his appointment. Last year, the Roughriders finished second in the West Division before losing to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Western Final. Saskatchewan will host the Western Finals next month after took first place in the Western Division last week.
The 39-year-old native of Port Moody, British Columbia, was hired by the Roughriders after a two-year stint as defensive coordinator for the Toronto Argonauts, where he won the Gray Cup in 2022. He previously served as the defensive line coach for the Calgary Stampeders from 2016 to 2021, helping the team win the Gray Cup in 2018. player of the year 2014.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders (12-4) will face the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (8-8) at Princess Auto Stadium on Friday, October 17, with kickoff scheduled for 8:00 pm ET.
