Sarah Michelle Gellar pays tribute to her late friend and Buffy the Vampire Slayer co-star Michelle Trachtenberg.
On what would have been Trachtenberg's 40th birthday, Gellar went Instagram to say a few kind words about the actor who died earlier this year.
“When you turned 16, it was hard not to see you as the little girl I met on All My Children,” she said. “When you turned 21, I had to teach myself not to see you as a little sister anymore. I can’t imagine what it would be like at 40.”
“I know… it would be filled with love. Happy birthday @michelletrachtenberg,” she added.
Gellar accompanied her post with a heartfelt video of herself hugging Trachtenberg on screen as they played Buffy and Dawn Summers. Gellar added Wiz Khalifa's 2015 hit “See You Again” to the video.
On February 26, Trachtenberg was found dead in an apartment in Manhattan. She was 39 years old. According to the New York Medical Examiner's Office, the “17 Again” star died from complications of diabetes.
After Trachtenberg's death, Gellar published several photographs of the couple taken over the years on her website. Instagram. In two of the photos, they pose next to Seth Green, and in another photo, Trachtenberg is holding a child who appears to be Gellar's daughter.
She captioned the post: “Michelle, listen to me. Listen. I love you. I will always love you. The hardest thing in this world is to live in it. I will be brave. I will live… for you.”
In addition to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Trachtenberg is known for his roles in TV shows such as Gossip Girl and films such as Harriet the Spy and The Ice Princess.
